I've always been a self-taught learner. Once I get an idea in my head that I want to learn something, I seek out anyone willing to impart their wisdom & skills to me as well as all the library books (and now websites) I can carry. This summer I challenged myself to learn new knit stitches in order to dress up my current pattern offerings as well as future collections.
This challenge not only helped me both improve my skills in pattern reading and stretch my patience with pattern abbreviations (hehe), but surprisingly improved my confidence to try new things. I'm a very comfortable-in-my-bubble kinda gal (which my husband loves to stretch). Does anyone else get the same confidence boosts from being challenged?
If so, I'd love for you to try my Weekly Knit Stitch series. Starting in September, I'll send you an email once a week with a new knit stitch pattern to try. At the end of the week, send me a picture of your swatch or project with the new stitch. Or upload your picture & tag me on social media --> @knittedhome. Maybe we could even start our own hashtag. #knittedhomestitchchallenge? #stitchoftheweek?
I'd love to hear which ones you enjoyed and let me know if you get stuck on any - I'd love to help you master each one.
Next, I'm putting together a Crochet version for January.
What personal challenges do you do for yourself? I'd love to hear all about it in the comments below! Be sure to click "subscribe via email" to receive comment reply notifications.
